Contract research and development

The Centre of Expertise - Industrial Biotechnology and Biocatalysis has a longstanding tradition of collaboration with industrial partners, through joint Research & Development projects. The range of products and developed technologies cover the fields of food ingredients and additives, fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals, enzymes, bio-colorants, flavours and aroma compounds, fine and bulk chemicals as well as solvents and biofuels.

InBio.be is well equipped with standard microbiological equipment, including 4 sterile laminar airflow cabinets, 4 large incubation rooms, 8 shakers for Erlenmeyer cultures and a fermenter park of about 20 fermentors, ranging from 0,5 l lab fermenters up to a 150 l pilot scale fermenter. Our fermenters are all equipped with on-line computer monitoring and peripheral equipment for process control.

The Centre of Expertise is equipped with state-of-the-art analytical equipment to perform a diverse range of analyses involving HPLC, FPLC, GC, LC/MS-MS, etc.

InBio.be also possesses the experience and equipment for the construction of improved production strains, covering classical mutation as well as recombinant DNA-technology, such as gel electrophoresis, gene sequencing, PCR, etc.

We can develop a fermentation or biocatalytic process for you starting from scratch, involving the screening and selection of suitable production strains or enzymes, the development and optimisation of fermentation or biocatalytical processes, as well as a suitable down-stream-processing process, required to obtain the product in a pure form.

We can optimise and improve your existing production processes, as well as perform troubleshooting of industrial production processes.
